TRANSFER OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

In entering the HCWH International Competition, and in consideration for
the opportunity to win the competition's awards, contestants agree to
convey to HCWH all intellectual property rights in the proposed designs
they submit. HCWH will place designs of treatment technologies in the
public domain, or license them on an automatic, non-exclusive, royalty-free
basis, subject potentially only to provisions designed to ensure that
subsequent modifications of the submitted designs remain available on a
similar basis. Thus, the designs will be accessible to poor rural
communities, local artisans, or small manufacturers in developing
countries. From the submitted designs, HCWH may take several designs, make
modifications, build prototypes, and test them for the purpose of
developing recommended treatment technologies.

Participants must mail two signed copies of the intellectual property
transfer agreement below, and certify that the submitted design is original
to them, and that they hold full rights to the submission.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TRANSFER AGREEMENT

1. I/we certify that the design I/we are submitting in the Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) international competition is original to us, and does not infringe on the rights of any other party. I/we certify that we maintain full rights to the design.

2. In entering the HCWH international competition, and in consideration for the opportunity to win the competition's awards, I/we agree to convey to HCHW all intellectual property rights -- including existing or potential patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, industrial design or other intellectual property claims -- in the submitted design.

3. I/we understand that HCWH will place all submitted designs of treatment technologies in the public domain, or will license them on an automatic, non-exclusive, royalty-free basis, subject potentially only to provisions designed to ensure that subsequent modifications of the submitted designs remain available on a similar basis.

4. I/we understand that HCWH may select one or more submitted designs, incorporate revisions if necessary, build and test one or more prototypes for the purpose of developing recommended treatment technology designs which will be placed in the public domain or will be licensed on an automatic, non-exclusive, royalty-free basis, subject potentially only to provisions designed to ensure that subsequent modifications of the recommended designs remain available on a similar basis.
